The Museum Education Consortium of Buffalo (MECOB) represents several major cultural organizations in the community with a mutual goal to provide enhanced educational opportunities for teachers, students and families in Western New York. Programs are aligned with the Common Core and New York State Learning Standards and may also provide cross curricular activities.
The mission of MECOB is to provide inspirational and challenging educational opportunities in art, architecture, history, and the natural and physical sciences for the residents of and visitors to Western New York. Our vision is a community where cultural experiences are an integral and valuable part of everyday life.
Since its very early years when interested people from a few local cultural organizations got together for informal chats, the MECOB has evolved into its current structure consisting of a representative from the Education Department of each of the current member institutions. They work together to fulfill the mission of MECOB by providing individual and collaborative programs for the community and learning experiences for the docents.
